help Cachet FAQ
What is Cachet actually used for?
Cachet is open-source status-page software used to publish service availability and incident information. It is not a browser speed analyzer and does not calculate Core Web Vitals by itself.
Can Cachet show whether an API or website is down?
Cachet can display component states such as operational, degraded, or major outage, but monitoring data normally comes from an external check or a manual update. It is the communication layer rather than the complete monitoring system.
Does Cachet have incident history and maintenance notices?
Yes. A status page can show incidents, updates, and scheduled maintenance for named components. This gives users a public record of service events.
Is Cachet similar to Statuspage by Atlassian?
They serve a similar status-page purpose, but Cachet is self-hosted open-source software while Atlassian Statuspage is a hosted commercial service. The operational tradeoff is control and maintenance versus managed hosting.
