description Callaway Adjustable Wedge Set Overview
While not a full iron set, the adjustable wedge set is crucial for short-game control. It allows golfers to fine-tune loft for pitching and chipping from various lies, which is where loft adjustment makes the biggest difference. This set is perfect for players who struggle with consistency around the green, ensuring they can hit the precise distance needed to reach the flag.
help Callaway Adjustable Wedge Set FAQ
What lofts should the wedges in the set be set to?
A typical gapping is a gap wedge around 50–52°, a sand wedge around 54–56°, and a lob wedge around 58–60°, keeping roughly 4–6° between clubs to avoid distance overlaps. The adjustability exists precisely so you can nudge those numbers to fill your own yardage gaps.
Can I adjust the loft during a round?
No — under the Rules of Golf (Rule 4.1a), you can't change a club's playing characteristics mid-round, even on a club built to be adjustable. Making adjustments before the round starts is perfectly legal.
What happens to bounce when you add or remove loft?
Adding loft effectively increases bounce and raises the leading edge, while decreasing loft does the opposite, so one club can play like a sand wedge or a flatter chipper. That's why loft tuning matters most for pitches and chips from different lies.
How does an adjustable wedge set compare with Titleist Vokey wedges?
Titleist's Vokey SM-series is the fixed-specification benchmark that most pros and fitters use, chosen for its wide range of bounce and grind options rather than adjustability. An adjustable set trades that grind breadth for flexibility, which helps if you can't carry four wedges.
