help Flexential Disaster Recovery FAQ
What technology does Flexential's disaster recovery service use?
Flexential's DR solution is built around Zerto's virtual replication, which provides continuous data protection and journal-based recovery points. That means VMs can be failed over nearly instantly and rolled back to moments before an outage or ransomware event.
Who owns Zerto, the software behind Flexential's DR offering?
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced its acquisition of Zerto in 2021 and folded it into its storage and data protection portfolio. Flexential continues to build its managed DR service on top of Zerto's replication technology.
How fast is failover with a Zerto-based DR service like Flexential's?
Zerto's journal-based continuous replication allows recovery points just seconds before an incident and virtual machine failover that typically takes minutes rather than hours. Exact RTO/RPO depends on your VM count and bandwidth, but sub-minute RPO is the core selling point of this architecture.
Is Flexential a real data center operator or just a software vendor?
Flexential is a full data center and hybrid IT provider formed from the merger of Peak 10 and ViaWest around 2017-2018. It operates a national footprint of roughly 40 data centers, which is what physically hosts its DR and colocation services.
