description Kolf Overview
Kolf is a historic Dutch club-and-ball sport played indoors on narrow courts. Players use a club to strike a ball, placing the game within the wider family of traditional stick sports and explaining its later association with golf. Historical records indicate that approximately 350 kolf courses existed in the Netherlands in 1792. The game is therefore significant as a documented Dutch indoor sport with an established course network during the eighteenth century.
