description Sam Hanks Overview
Sam Hanks was an American racing driver best known for winning the 1957 Indianapolis 500. That victory appeared in the 1957 Formula One World Championship results because the Indianapolis 500 was included in the championship during that period, although Hanks did not compete in the European Grand Prix races.
