I'm not sure why so many people had trouble with the site, but I suspect it was from not reading carefully or following instructions or going to a wrong website. I accessed all three of my credit reports, although I had to come back an hour later to do one of the three. I was not asked for payment to receive any of the three reports. I was not asked to receive or order anything by mail. The identity verification questions were not tricky, but I had to read carefully and think through the answers. I was given an opportunity to get my credit score for a payment (and having to join a monthly program) I declined. Overall, not a difficult experience, but I do wish credit scores were mandated as also free.
Tried multiple times to just check my 3 reports, but the site keeps bringing up security questions about auto loans, and mortgages that I don’t have. On top of all of that, in order to even access my info they want proof of residence, my pay stubs (which I don’t have, as I’m self employed), and my whole life history. How is this company the national “go to” for all credit reporting agencies, and who did they pay off to get such a designation?
Went online to get all three agencies. The questions were old credit card information, then I remembered that the one card changed banks. But couldn't get back again to fix and couldn't get form to mail in with requested ID. The other questions were none of the above. Never heard of them. So finally pulled forms directly from credit agencies to mail in request with proper ID. Waste of my time.
Fast and accurate. I will need to refresh information about my credit history. This site always helped me with this. The process took 5 minutes. I loaded report in pdf format and now I can analyze it. I do not like to enter my private information on the web, but probably this site is secure (but we never know).
I’ve tried to retrieve my credit reports online, filled the form accurately and no matter what I do it says unable to proceed and to request by phone or mail. No reasoning given or chance to correct any issues.
I should have known this was not legitimate when the website asked for my credit card number. Maybe there was some very small print I didn't see/read but everything I saw said "free credit report." I read my credit report while on the site and a week later my credit card statement showed up a $14.99 charge from Experian. The last time I used a "government-affiliated" free credit report website was a couple of years ago and I was never charged. I emailed the company but no response so far. It doesn't seem fair to call the credit card company to reverse the charge because then they will eat the loss.
