CamStudio

CamStudio is one of the oldest open-source screen recorders available. While it was once the go-to tool for many, it has largely been superseded by more modern, stable, and feature-rich alternatives like OBS Studio. It is still functional for very basic screen recording tasks, but it lacks modern features like hardware acceleration, multi-track audio, and a user-friendly interface. It is included here for historical context and for users with very old hardware that cannot run modern software.

For most users, however, it is no longer the recommended choice.
