The Punisher (2017 Series)

This series takes the Marvel character Frank Castle and places him in a grounded, military-thriller context. It focuses on trauma, PTSD, and the moral cost of vengeance. Unlike many superhero shows, it avoids flashy powers in favor of tactical combat and psychological exploration. The performance by Jon Bernthal is the anchor, providing a raw, tortured portrayal of the character.

While the pacing in the middle episodes can drag, the show succeeds in delivering a dark, mature take on the vigilante archetype that feels distinct from the broader MCU.
