Amazon Echo (Smart Display - Older Model)

The phrase older model is too broad because the first Echo Show arrived in 2017 while the second-generation Echo Show arrived in October 2018. Open Settings, Device Options, and About to confirm the exact model before buying accessories or checking software support.

Matter support depends on the exact generation rather than simply being an Echo Show. Amazon's compatibility list includes models such as Echo Show 5 second generation and Echo Show 8 second generation, so an unidentified first-generation unit should not be assumed to support Matter. It can handle Alexa timers, alarms, weather, music, recipes, camera feeds, and video calls when the relevant services still support the device. The original Echo Show has a 7-inch display, so its screen is useful for basic visual controls even though newer models are faster.

Confirm that the seller deregistered the device, the touchscreen and camera work, and the correct power adapter is included. Amazon publishes model-specific security-support information, so identifying the exact Echo Show generation matters before relying on it as a smart-home hub.
