Methodology
A clear, no-marketing-fluff explanation of how Lunoo scores and ranks items.
The 30-second version
Each item gets an AI-generated score from 0 to 10 based on public signals about that specific item, compared only against peers in the same category. Affiliate commissions, sponsorships, and editorial opinions do not affect the number. User reviews are tracked separately on the item page itself.
What goes into the score
Category fit
Every item is classified into a canonical category we call a key tag, and only compared against peers there. A budget VPN is never scored against an enterprise CRM.
Feature coverage
Whether the item actually solves the core problems users in that category typically have. We weigh the must-haves more heavily than novelty extras.
Pricing & value
Whether the price aligns with what comparable items charge for comparable capability. Free tiers, trial generosity, and hidden costs all factor in.
Public reception
Aggregated public information about the item: how well-known it is, whether it has a clear product story, whether reviewers in the space have written about it.
Recency
Items are re-scored on a regular cadence as their data, pricing, and category landscape change.
User reviews
When users leave reviews on an item, those show up separately on the item page and only there. They do not retroactively rewrite the AI score.
What is not in the score
Spot a wrong score?
If you see a score that is clearly wrong (factual error, wrong category, outdated data), email support@lunoo.com with the URL and what is wrong. We re-classify and re-score on a regular cadence, but we will also fix obvious mistakes by hand on request.
