description Audeze LCD-4 Overview
For focused listening at a desk, the Audeze LCD-4 uses open-back planar magnetic drivers rather than conventional moving-coil dynamic drivers. Its thin Nano-Scale Uniforce diaphragm works with a Double Fluxor magnet array, a defining part of its driver construction. The model targets detailed reproduction and controlled bass, with an open enclosure suited to listening where isolation is not the main concern. Audiophiles and audio professionals may consider it for close examination of recordings.
Gaming is another possible use, although it is a listening headphone rather than a dedicated gaming headset. Matching it with suitable amplification matters, and its open design allows sound to escape. The technology provides a distinct approach to sound reproduction without proving universal superiority over dynamic headphones.
help Audeze LCD-4 FAQ
How much does the Audeze LCD-4 weigh?
The Audeze LCD-4 weighs approximately 705 grams (or 24.8 ounces) without the cable. This heavy weight is due to the massive planar magnetic drivers and premium magnesium rings used in their construction.
What kind of amplifier is needed for the Audeze LCD-4?
Due to their low impedance of 200 ohms and incredibly low sensitivity of 97dB, the LCD-4 requires a very powerful, high-end headphone amplifier to shine. Using a standard consumer DAC or laptop jack will not drive them loud enough or provide adequate dynamic range.
Where are the Audeze LCD-4 headphones manufactured?
The LCD-4, like all of Audeze's flagship planar magnetic headphones, is handcrafted in their facility in Costa Mesa, California. They utilize proprietary Fluxor magnets and Nano-scale diaphragms developed in-house.
What type of connectors does the Audeze LCD-4 use?
The headphones terminate in a standard 1/4-inch stereo plug on the amplifier end, but connect to the earcups using professional 4-pin mini XLR connectors. Audeze includes a high-quality braided cable in the premium packaging.
