description Faygo Cola Overview
Faygo Cola is a cola-flavored carbonated soft drink produced by Detroit-based Faygo Beverages, Inc., a company founded in 1907 by Russian immigrant brothers Ben and Perry Feigenson. Faygo Cola is distributed primarily in the Midwestern United States and is positioned as an affordable alternative to national brands. The company is now a subsidiary of National Beverage Corporation.
help Faygo Cola FAQ
Who owns Faygo today?
Faygo has been part of National Beverage Corp.—the Florida-based company that also makes LaCroix—since the late 1980s. The brand still trades heavily on its Detroit origins in its marketing.
How did Faygo Cola get its start?
The company traces to 1907, when Russian immigrant brothers Ben and Perry Feigenson in Detroit adapted their cake frosting recipes to create fruit-flavored sodas. Their Feigenson Brothers Bottling Works was later shortened to the snappier name Faygo.
Why is Faygo so strongly associated with Insane Clown Posse?
The Detroit horrorcore duo Insane Clown Posse made spraying audiences with cheap soda—so-called Faygo showers—a signature of their live shows decades ago. Their Juggalo fanbase adopted Faygo, especially flavors like Redpop, as a cultural badge.
Is Faygo Cola sold outside of Michigan?
Yes—once largely a Midwest regional brand, Faygo distribution has expanded across much of the United States under National Beverage Corp. Availability is still strongest in Michigan and the Great Lakes region, where it remains a local icon.
