help Mahoromatic: Automatic Maiden FAQ
What is Mahoromatic: Automatic Maiden about?
Mahoro Andou is a combat android built by VESPER to defend Earth from alien invaders. Because she has only about one month of operational life left if she keeps fighting, she retires and becomes the maid of Suguru Misato.
Why does Mahoro stop fighting?
Mahoro's remaining lifespan is running out, so she chooses to spend her final period living as a normal maid instead of continuing military missions. This creates the series' main tension between her peaceful domestic life and her dangerous past.
Who is Suguru Misato?
Suguru is a quiet student who lives alone after losing his parents and has a strong interest in occult subjects. Mahoro becomes his housekeeper, and their relationship gradually changes from employer and maid into a close emotional bond.
Is Mahoromatic a comedy or a science-fiction action anime?
It combines school and maid comedy with mecha-style combat and a serious science-fiction backstory. The contrast between Mahoro's cheerful household role and her history as VESPER's weapon drives much of the show's appeal.
