Mauricio Macri is an Argentine businessman and politician who served as president of Argentina from 2015 to 2019. Before reaching the presidency, he was chief of government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires from 2007 to 2015 and led the center-right Republican Proposal, or PRO, which formed part of the Cambiemos coalition. His presidency followed the governments of Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and ended with his defeat by Alberto Fernández in the 2019 election.
