description Parasite (2019) Overview
The Kim family's attempts to enter the wealthy Park household drive Parasite, a 2019 South Korean film directed by Bong Joon-ho, who co-wrote its screenplay. By securing positions within the home, the Kims create an arrangement that exposes class divisions and brings unforeseen consequences. Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Choi Woo-shik are among the cast members who give the two households their contrasting rhythms. Dark comedy and social satire gradually give way to thriller tension, with the design of domestic spaces helping express differences in power and security.
The film suits viewers interested in suspense that grows from everyday dependence rather than a conventional criminal investigation. At the 92nd Academy Awards, it won Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, and International Feature Film, becoming the first non-English-language film to receive Best Picture.
