description Pea Weevil Overview

Bruchus pisorum, commonly called the pea weevil or pea seed beetle, is a seed-feeding beetle in the leaf-beetle family Chrysomelidae. It is widely distributed in pea-growing regions and attacks Pisum sativum. Females lay eggs on the outside of green pods; the larvae enter the developing peas, feed inside the seeds, pupate there, and later emerge through round exit holes, reducing seed quality and germination.
