help Scout APM FAQ

What language and frameworks does Scout APM monitor?

Scout APM has supported application monitoring for platforms including Ruby, Python, PHP, and Elixir. The exact integrations available depend on the current Scout product and agent documentation.

Does Scout APM show database queries as well as page response time?

Yes. Scout is designed to break transaction time into application work, database queries, and other calls so a slow endpoint can be investigated. This is more useful than looking only at browser load time.

Is Scout APM the same as a browser-only speed test?

No. Scout APM instruments the application on the server side and tracks transactions in production or other environments. A browser test measures the visitor's page-loading experience, which is a different layer.

What does First Byte Time mean in a website performance report?

First Byte Time is the delay before the browser receives the first response bytes from the server. A high value can point to server processing, network delay, or backend contention, but it does not measure the entire page load.
