help Sonos Arc SL FAQ
What's the difference between the Sonos Arc SL and the regular Arc?
The Arc SL, launched in November 2021, removes the built-in microphones, so there's no Alexa or Google Assistant on the bar itself. It was positioned roughly $50 cheaper than the standard Arc while keeping the same driver array and Dolby Atmos performance.
Does the Arc SL still support Dolby Atmos?
Yes — Atmos support is identical to the original Arc, provided your TV passes Dolby Atmos over eARC through HDMI. You can also run Trueplay tuning from the Sonos app on iOS to adapt it to your room.
Can I still use voice control with an Arc SL?
Not on the soundbar itself, since the SL has no microphones, so there's no far-field 'Hey Sonos' or assistant built in. You control playback through the Sonos app, your TV remote, or AirPlay 2 from an iPhone instead.
Can the Arc SL be expanded with a subwoofer and rear speakers?
Yes — it works as a Sonos home theater hub with the Sonos Sub and pairs of speakers like the Era 300 as surrounds. That lets you build a full Atmos 5.1 system over SonosNet and the Sonos app.
