help Terminator Genisys FAQ
Is Terminator Genisys a remake of The Terminator?
It revisits the 1984 time-travel setup but changes the timeline, so it is better described as a 2015 reimagining than a scene-for-scene remake. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as the Terminator in the altered story ([Paramount Pictures](https://www.paramountpictures.com/movies/terminator-genisys)).
Who directed and stars in Terminator Genisys?
Alan Taylor directed the film, with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, and Jai Courtney in the main cast. Paramount identifies it as a 2015 chapter of the Terminator franchise.
What changes in the story of Terminator Genisys?
Kyle Reese still travels back to protect Sarah Connor, but he arrives in a timeline where Sarah already knows a T-800 she calls Pops. The film uses that altered setup to reinterpret events from the 1984 original.
Is Terminator Genisys part of the official Terminator series?
Yes, it is an official 2015 Terminator franchise film, not an unrelated science-fiction story. Its altered timeline deliberately makes its relationship with earlier films more complicated.
