description 60 Echo Overview
60 Echo is a main-belt asteroid discovered by American astronomer James Ferguson at the United States Naval Observatory in Washington on 14 September 1860. It has an S-type spectral classification and rotates in roughly 25 hours. The asteroid is named after Echo, the nymph in Greek mythology whose speech was restricted to repeating the words of others. Ferguson first called the object Titania, but that name had already been assigned to a moon of Uranus.
