97 Klotho is a main-belt asteroid discovered by Ernst Wilhelm Tempel on 17 February 1868. It is classified as an M-type asteroid in the Tholen system and completes an orbit around the Sun in about 4.37 years. The name refers to Clotho, one of the three Moirai, or Fates, in Greek mythology, who spins the thread representing a person's life. Its orbit lies in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
