Aaron Swartz was an American computer programmer, writer, and political activist associated with technologies and campaigns promoting open access to information. As a teenager he contributed to the RSS 1.0 specification, and he later worked on Creative Commons, co-founded Infogami, and became involved with Reddit after the companies merged. He also helped establish Demand Progress and opposed the Stop Online Piracy Act before his death in 2013.
