Agaricus campestris

description Agaricus campestris Overview

Agaricus campestris is commonly known as the meadow mushroom or field mushroom. It grows in grassland, pasture, and other open habitats, producing a cap with pink gills that become dark brown as the spores mature. The species has a long history of culinary use, but it can be confused with poisonous mushrooms, including some yellow-staining Agaricus and species of Amanita, so accurate identification is essential before consumption.
