Akame ga Kill!

Night Raid is the covert assassination branch of the Revolutionary Army in the Akame ga Kill! universe. Their primary goal is to overthrow Prime Minister Honest, a corrupt leader who is manipulating the child emperor of the Capital. They operate from a hidden base outside the city limits.

The anime adaptation notoriously diverged from the manga's ongoing storyline, creating an entirely original ending halfway through the series. Characters like Tatsumi and Esdeath meet very different fates in the anime compared to the original manga volumes. This was because the manga had not yet concluded its serialization when the anime aired in 2014.

Akame is a highly skilled swordswoman and one of the strongest members of Night Raid, armed with the Teigu 'Murasame,' a cursed blade that kills with a single cut. Despite being the title character, she shares the main protagonist spotlight with Tatsumi. She underwent brutal training as an assassin by the Empire before defecting to the Revolutionary Army.

Imperial Arms, or Teigu, are incredibly powerful, super-rare relics created by the first Emperor of the nation over 900 years ago. They take various forms, from weapons like swords and guns to biological artifacts like a belt that grants beast transformations. Only highly skilled individuals can wield them without dying from the physical strain.
