Alan Pred

description Alan Pred Overview

Allan Pred (1936-2007) was an American geographer known for research in urban, historical, and cultural geography. He drew on Torsten Hägerstrand's time-geography and social theory to explain how places emerge through repeated human practices, institutional arrangements, and historical change. His work treated cities and regions as ongoing social processes rather than fixed containers, and later examined nationalism, racism, and modernity in Sweden.
