Alan Wake 2 (video game)

Alan Wake 2 is set in the same universe as Remedy Entertainment's 2019 game *Control*, with FBI agent Saga Anderson's investigation overlapping the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) and its classification of Altered World Events (AWEs). Remedy had already teased this connection in Control's 'AWE' DLC expansion, which directly featured Alan Wake as a character trapped in the Dark Place.

Two paid DLC expansions were released for Alan Wake 2: 'Night Springs,' which launched in June 2024 and features alternate-university episodes riffing on Remedy's prior games, and 'The Lake House,' released in October 2024, which bridges the story more deeply into the FBC and Control universe. Both are included in the Deluxe Edition and continue the interconnected 'Remedy Connected Universe' storyline.

Players alternate between Alan Wake, the novelist trapped in the Dark Place since the events of the 2010 original game, and Saga Anderson, an FBI profiler investigating a string of ritual murders in the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls. Each character has distinct gameplay mechanics—Saga uses a 'Mind Place' deduction system to profile suspects, while Alan reshapes reality by rewriting his manuscript.
