Alice H. Eagly is an American social psychologist known for research on gender, attitudes, prejudice, and leadership. She developed social role theory, which explains many average differences in the behavior of women and men as consequences of their differing social roles and the expectations attached to them. Her work has made extensive use of meta-analysis to combine findings across studies, including research on leadership styles, aggression, helping behavior, and gender stereotypes.
