The character of the hapless outback expert Russell Coight is played by Australian comedian Glenn Robbins. Robbins co-created the show with talented comedians Santo Cilauro, Tom Gleisner, and Rob Sitch from Working Dog Productions. The show is a brilliant mockumentary parody of real nature documentaries, capitalizing on Robbins' deadpan comedic timing.

The original run of 'All Aussie Adventures' consisted of two seasons, premiering on Network Ten in 2001 and 2002. The show was later revived for a third season in 2018 to celebrate its enduring cult status. There are also several specials, including the famous 'Russell Coight's Celebrity Challenge.'

Russell Coight is a spoof of rugged outdoorsmen, completely lacking any real survival skills despite his confident demeanor. He constantly gets lost, destroys property, accidentally harms wildlife, and shares completely incorrect historical facts on camera. The humor stems from his obliviousness to his own incompetence and the sheer chaos he leaves in his wake.

While the show has a strong script developed by the Working Dog team, Glenn Robbins does improvise heavily during filming to capture the awkwardness of the character. The actors playing the 'locals' or tourists he interacts with are often real people who are not in on the joke. This blend of scripted comedy and genuine reactions perfectly enhances the mockumentary style.
