Alstroemeria, commonly called Peruvian lily, is a genus of tuberous perennial plants native to South America. Its flowers have six petal-like tepals, often marked with contrasting spots or streaks, and occur in colors including pink, orange, yellow, red, purple, and white. Alstroemeria was named for the Swedish botanist Claes Alströmer and is cultivated in gardens and commercial floriculture, particularly as a cut flower with a long vase life.
