American Buffalo

description American Buffalo Overview

American Buffalo is a play by David Mamet, first produced in 1975 and set almost entirely inside a Chicago junk shop. Don, Teach, and Bobby plan to steal a valuable coin collection, but suspicion, shifting loyalties, and incomplete information destabilize the scheme. The play is distinguished by its fragmented, profane vernacular dialogue and its examination of friendship, masculinity, commerce, and betrayal among men operating at the margins of petty crime.
