American Dad! is an American animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman that premiered on Fox in 2005 before moving to TBS in 2014. The series centers on Stan Smith, a conservative CIA agent, and his family living in the fictional town of Langley Falls, Virginia. The household includes Stan's wife Francine, their liberal daughter Hayley, nerdy son Steve, an alien named Roger, and Klaus, a goldfish containing the brain of an East German Olympic skier.

Unlike MacFarlane's Family Guy, the show initially focused more on political satire and Stan's job at the CIA before developing its own distinctive style of absurdist humor.
