America's Army is a free tactical first-person shooter released in 2002 and developed under the direction of the United States Army. It combines multiplayer combat with required training exercises and emphasizes teamwork, rules of engagement, mission objectives, and military roles more than conventional arcade shooting. Distributed publicly as both a game and a recruitment and public-relations project, it later developed into a series with several major versions.
