description Analcime Overview

Analcime is a hydrated sodium aluminosilicate mineral generally placed in the zeolite group. It commonly forms brittle, glassy, colorless, white, gray, pink, or greenish crystals with a pseudocubic trapezohedral shape; its Mohs hardness is about 5 to 5.5. The mineral occurs in cavities and altered zones of volcanic rocks such as basalt and is collected mainly as a mineral specimen rather than used as a durable jewelry stone.
