Antony and Cleopatra is an opera in three acts by American composer Samuel Barber, with a libretto by Franco Zeffirelli based on Shakespeare's tragedy. Commissioned to inaugurate the Metropolitan Opera's new house at Lincoln Center, it premiered there in 1966 with Leontyne Price as Cleopatra. Barber later revised the work with Gian Carlo Menotti, producing a more concentrated version first performed in 1975.
