Yes, the system is renowned for its robust Reverse Osmosis capabilities, ensuring exceptionally low Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels. This results in highly pure drinking water, though some users add remineralization filters later for taste.

The system integrates UV sterilization post-filtration, providing a final safeguard against biological contaminants. The UV light neutralizes the DNA of any remaining microorganisms, rendering them harmless before the water reaches your glass.

Like most Reverse Osmosis systems, the AquaPure Elite will produce a certain amount of brine or waste water for every gallon of purified water it creates, typically at a ratio of around 1:1 or 2:1 depending on the specific membrane used. This waste water is flushed down the drain during the filtration cycle.

Users generally need to replace the standard carbon and sediment pre-filters every 6 to 12 months to protect the RO membrane from chlorine damage. The UV sterilization lamp also requires an annual replacement to ensure it remains at peak disinfection strength.
