Automata

description Automata Overview

Automata is a 2014 science-fiction thriller directed by Gabe Ibáñez and starring Antonio Banderas as Jacq Vaucan, an insurance investigator for robotics company ROC. Set in 2044, it depicts a desertified Earth where humanoid Pilgrim robots must not harm living beings or modify themselves or one another. Vaucan investigates a robot that appears to have modified itself despite those rules, turning an insurance case into a question about machine autonomy and humanity's future. It is relevant to viewers of dystopian science fiction.
