Avenging Eagle

Avenging Eagle is a Shaw Brothers production from 1978, released during the studio's peak era of martial arts filmmaking. The film was directed by Sun Chung, who was one of the key directors at Shaw Brothers alongside Chang Cheh and Lau Kar-leung.

The film stars Fu Sheng and Ti Lung in the lead roles, two of the Shaw Brothers studio's most prominent martial arts actors of the era. Both were closely associated with director Chang Cheh's films, though Avenging Eagle was directed by Sun Chung.

The film follows a young martial artist raised by a bandit clan known as the Chi Sahng, or the Orphans, who begins to question his loyalties after encountering a victim of the gang's raids. He ultimately turns against his adopted family and their leader in a story of redemption through kung fu combat.

Avenging Eagle is considered one of the more distinctive Shaw Brothers wuxia films of the late 1970s, praised for its character-driven story and Sun Chung's stylish direction.
