Basil van Rooyen was a South African racing driver, engineer, inventor, and race-car developer. He made two Formula One starts, both in the South African Grand Prix at Kyalami: one for John Love's privateer Cooper-Climax in 1968 and one for the privateer Team Lawson McLaren M7A in 1969. He did not score a Formula One World Championship point, and his wider career also included South African touring-car racing and work developing competition cars.
