The Basílica da Estrela, formally the Basílica do Sagrado Coração de Jesus, is a neoclassical Catholic church in the Estrela neighborhood of Lisbon, Portugal. It was built between 1779 and 1790 by order of Queen Maria I in fulfillment of a vow she made. The queen and her husband Pedro III are interred in a mausoleum within the church. The building features a prominent white limestone dome visible from many parts of the city and includes a nativity scene with over 500 figures carved by Joaquim Machado de Castro.
