Boleite

description Boleite Overview

Boleite is a rare mineral composed chiefly of lead, copper, silver, chlorine, and hydroxide. It forms cubic crystals with a deep indigo-blue color and belongs to the halide mineral group. The mineral was first described in 1891 from the Boleo mining district near Santa Rosalia in Baja California, Mexico. Its striking color, unusual chemistry, and scarcity make it primarily a collector's mineral rather than a widely used gemstone.
