description Bolt Taxify Overview
Known originally as Taxify, Bolt offers app-based, on-demand rides that connect passengers with drivers for point-to-point journeys. Riders enter a destination and request a vehicle through a mobile app, making the service useful for city travel without arranging a pickup by telephone. Its presence in Eastern Europe and parts of Africa gives it a geographic identity that differs from services concentrated mainly in North America. The ride service suits commuters, business travelers and people making occasional trips across town.
Driver eligibility and available ride options depend on local rules and the market concerned. Digital booking and payment handling are central to the experience, alongside the systems that coordinate drivers and requests. Bolt is primarily a mobility company, so describing payment processing as its fintech foundation misstates its main purpose.

Bolt requires all drivers to pass a comprehensive background check and hold proper local licensing to operate a commercial vehicle. The app also features GPS tracking and an SOS button for emergencies.
