Brain Age: Concentration Training

Brain Age: Concentration Training was developed exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming console. It was released in Japan in 2012 and later became available in North America and South Korea. The European and Australian releases were delayed by several years compared to other regions.

The game focuses on training working memory and concentration through a series of brain exercises designed by neuroscientist Ryuta Kawashima, who appears as a floating animated head in the game. The exercises specifically target information retention and rapid recall under time pressure. Players complete daily training sessions and track their progress over time.

Brain Age: Concentration Training was released in Europe and Australia several years after its 2012 Japanese launch, with the European release not arriving until 2017. This unusually long delay meant many European 3DS owners had given up on a localization by the time it arrived. The North American release occurred much earlier, in 2013.

The Nintendo 3DS eShop was discontinued in March 2023, meaning digital purchases of Brain Age: Concentration Training are no longer possible through the official storefront. Physical cartridges may still be found through used game retailers and resale markets. The game is not compatible with the Nintendo Switch, which has its own separate Brain Age title called *Brain Age: Nintendo Switch Training*.
