description Breadknife (Warrumbungles) Overview
The Breadknife is a narrow volcanic rock formation in Warrumbungle National Park, New South Wales. It is the exposed remnant of a resistant volcanic dyke, left standing after erosion removed softer material around it. The formation rises roughly 90 metres while remaining only a few metres thick in places, giving it a blade-like profile. It is viewed from established walking routes in the Warrumbungles, a landscape shaped by the remains of an ancient volcano.
