description Bull Sand Overview
Bull Sand is a large tidal sandbank located near the mouth of the Humber Estuary on England's east coast. It is most notable as the site of Bull Sand Fort, a massive offshore defensive structure constructed between 1915 and 1919 to protect the approach to the Humber during World War I. The fort was armed with heavy artillery and extensively upgraded with anti-aircraft defenses during World War II before being decommissioned. Today, the abandoned military installation remains a prominent feature on the sandbank, visible to passing maritime traffic.
