Bunburra Rockhole

description Bunburra Rockhole Overview

Bunburra Rockhole is a basaltic achondrite meteorite that fell in Western Australia in 2007 and was recovered through observations made by the Desert Fireball Network. Photographic records of its fireball allowed researchers to calculate its atmospheric trajectory and pre-impact orbit, making it the first meteorite recovered in Australia after being tracked instrumentally during its fall. Its unusual oxygen-isotope composition distinguishes it from typical eucrites and indicates formation on a differentiated parent body.
