description Burn Hollywood Burn Overview

Burn Hollywood Burn, released in full as An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn, is a 1997 American satirical mockumentary directed by Arthur Hiller and written by Joe Eszterhas. Eric Idle stars as a director who wants his name removed from a botched film but cannot, because his real name is Alan Smithee, the Directors Guild pseudonym for disowned works. Mirroring the plot, Hiller had his own directing credit changed to Alan Smithee after disputes over the final cut. The film won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Picture.
