Bust-A-Move 3 DX

"Bust-A-Move 3 DX" is the European title for the enhanced home console ports of Taito's arcade game "Puzzle Bobble 3". The "DX" (Deluxe) version includes additional play modes, extra characters, and features not found in the standard arcade release. It was ported to consoles like the original PlayStation and the Nintendo 64 in the late 1990s.

The game features a large roster of characters from the classic Taito "Bubble Bobble" universe, including series staples Bub and Bob. In the console "DX" version, players could unlock additional characters through single-player progression or versus mode. Each character features unique drop patterns to use against opponents in competitive play.

Like previous entries in the tile-matching franchise, players control a pointer at the bottom of the screen to shoot colored bubbles upward. You must match three or more bubbles of the same color to pop them and clear the descending board. The game ends if the ceiling of bubbles is pushed down past the bottom line.

Bust-A-Move 3 DX is famous for introducing a robust 2-player versus mode where players battle on split screens. When you pop a large cluster of bubbles, "garbage" bubbles are sent over to clog your opponent's screen. The winner is the first player to survive without their bubbles crossing the bottom threshold.
