BYD Seal

Yes, the BYD Seal is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 and is equipped with the company's Blade Battery, which uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell chemistry arranged in a long, blade-like prismatic format. The Blade Battery design is engineered to resist thermal runaway more effectively than conventional nickel-cobalt-manganese packs and has passed BYD's nail-penetration safety test without igniting. This same battery architecture is shared across several BYD models including the Atto 3 and Dolphin.

The BYD Seal's long-range variant is rated at up to 310 miles of WLTP-rated range, which places it broadly in the same ballpark as the Tesla Model 3 Long Range. However, Tesla's Supercharger network and software ecosystem remain advantages for the Model 3, while the Seal emphasizes build quality and interior finish at a competitive price. The Seal also offers an all-wheel-drive performance version that targets the Model 3 Performance segment.

The BYD Seal supports DC fast charging at up to approximately 150 kW, enabling roughly a 30% to 80% charge in around 25 to 30 minutes under optimal conditions. It also supports vehicle-to-load (VTL) functionality on certain trims, allowing the car's battery to power external devices. This charging capability is competitive but slightly behind some rivals like the Tesla Model 3, which supports 250 kW on V3 Superchargers.
