description Capricorn Guyot Overview
Capricorn Guyot, also called Capricorn Seamount or Capricorn Tablemount, is a flat-topped submarine volcanic mountain in the southwest Pacific. It rises more than 4 km from the eastern flank of the Tonga Trench and has a broad summit with a second, shallower flat-topped knoll. The crust beneath the seamount is estimated at about 75-95 million years old, making the feature relevant to studies of Pacific seafloor geology and guyot formation.
