Champa Civilization

description Champa Civilization Overview

The Champa civilization was an Indianized coastal kingdom that existed along central and southern Vietnam from approximately the 2nd to the 19th century CE. Centered on the Cham people, the kingdom was shaped by Hindu and later Buddhist religious traditions and maintained extensive maritime trade networks connecting India, China, and Southeast Asia. Its artistic and architectural legacy includes the brick temple complex of My Son, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Champa was gradually absorbed by Vietnamese southward expansion, with its final territory annexed in 1832.
